Our Mission

AllBar is an association set up to support disabled people at the Bar in England and Wales. We aim to support disabled people already practising at the Bar, as well as those who are seeking to do so.

As part of that aim, we will host events, create a support network of disabled barristers and their allies, and seek to provide meaningful work experience opportunities for disabled pupillage applicants.

Ultimately we hope to make the Bar a more supportive place to work for disabled practitioners and in doing so contribute to making the Bar more representative of wider society. Some 18% of the UK’s working population are disabled, yet only 5.7% of members of the practising Bar identify as disabled for the purposes of the Equality Act 2010. We want to help change that.

We have a steering group made up of barristers, pupil barristers and aspiring barristers in England and Wales, some of whom have a disability, and some of whom do not. If you would be interested in being involved then please get in touch via the contact form or at allbargroup@gmail.com.
